Alila Seminyak ★★★★★

Alila is the place we keep coming back to again and again. Even if we are a little over Seminyak, the hotel makes it worth it! The various pools, top class service, food offering and kids club is all amazing. We will be back!

I dont like the restaurant Sea. Very special food and got sick of the risotto . Better with a restaurant with more different normal food

Friendly staff, good position in seminyak

We love the room which is a deluxe king ocean view. The decor and the balcony overlooking the sea were very nice. Our second favourite place is the adults only pool over Sea salt. Its a beautiful place to be calm and take in the view and even allows 25 m laps. I would recommend your staff at the poolside and the restaurant (where we had dinner). They are responsive, polite and work very hard to keep the guests comfortable.

My wife always complains about the makeup counter and the large mirror over the basins. The lighting is not adequate for accurate application of makeup. When it rains, the terrazo flooring in the balcony and the open air walkways can be slippery. I wonder if something can be done for the sake of elderly guests.

I have visited Alila on 4 occasions now and the quality has not changed . I had problems with a mouldy smell in the first room and once management was made aware they were so professional in moving me and making me happy.

Absolutely stunning and the best stay we have had in a long time. Three beautiful pools and an amazing breakfast. Staff were absolutely brilliant too!

Nice reception area, very big and impressive. The overall design of the hotel is very nice. If you like modern look & feel. Big and beautiful restaurant in the hotel (Sea Salt) Free and good internet everywhere in the hotel and at the pool 3 different pools, 1 dedicated for adults (was needed) Main pool has a nice bar with couches at the beach. Main pool could be bigger. We went end of March which was not high season and it felt a bit overcrowded already. My overall experience was not bad, we were on holiday and we enjoyed ourselves. But the place is just way overpriced. I will go more in detail in the "what didn't you like" comment box. Spa pricing is very fair compared to everything else. Food and drinks at the pool are (relatively) expensive. For Europeans nothing is expensive in Bali, but from a value for money point of view, everything is way overpriced. Especially the prices for the rooms.

We went to Bali for 10 days (9 nights) and we booked 3 different hotels. First 3 days in centre of Seminyak, then 3 days in Ubud and to finish 3 relaxing days at the beach of Alila hotel. Alila was by far the most expensive of the three hotels and unfortunately did not meet up with our expectations. I would not recommend this hotel just due to the high price. Bali offers so many nice hotels, it is extremely competitive. We paid 1050 euro for 3 nights (end of March 2018). We stayed in an Ocean Suite while our parent in laws stayed in a Terrace Suite. Both rooms are nearly identical but we have the ocean view and they didn't. Up to you to decide if you are willing to pay extra for the view. I thought I booked a boutique hotel, a bit more exclusive. When I arrived I had the feeling it was a mass production hotel. A lot of people arrived for check-in, I glanced at the pool and saw a lot of people squeezed around a (relatively) small pool. Lucky there are 2 other pools, but these three pools combined are nowhere enough during high season. Quite a lot of families and noise. The two other hotels we stayed at had a more premium feel. Although they were cheaper, it felt like you were king of the world. At Alila I felt like I was just another number. They have 4 building (if I am not mistaken), when the hotel is full it must be jam packed. Not a place where I would enjoy a relaxing holiday. I wouldn't mind going with children and be near the beach. But as a couple, I would rather have a boutique hotel. The shuttle service is a joke. Only available once an hour till 5pm. So if you want to take the shuttle to the center for dinner/shopping, you are left hanging dry. Taxi's are cheap and easy. But would be nice to have a shuttle driving nonstop to seminyak square back and forth till 10pm-11pm. Especially because the hotel is quite a walk from the center. Breakfast is not included. The few times I spoke to the staff, I had trouble communicating.

Perfect beach front location more understated and less hyped then W next door. Stunning infinity pool with unobstructed views of the ocean.

In room dining not up to standard

The location is great. We loved the direct access to the beach, which not many hotels in Seminyak have. Our 3yo had a fantastic time running between the pool and the beach. It was also a convenient location to get to Potato Head. We went there twice in our short stay. The beach bar bbq dinner was surprisingly good. We loved the short ribs. Meal selection for our 3yo was also good and complimentary. It’s a good place for a relaxing family vacation.

We had supposedly booked the Deluxe Ocean Suite, paying a premium for a view of the sea. However, being on the 1st storey and blocked on one side by the main building, there really wasn’t much of an ocean view. Please see attached photo for reference. We did not change room because our 3yo had already started “exploring” before we could stop him. We were also clearly not the original intended occupants for the room because the hotel had already set out a “Happy Anniversary S&B” cake with rose petals on the coffee table. My husband and I with our 3yo were not celebrating any anniversary. Breakfast selection was extensive but were quite hit and miss.

The general facilities and service were excellent.

The music of a club near the hotel was too loud and made us felt like clubbing even though we did not want to.

This is my second time staying at The Alila. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff are friendly, polite and can't do enough for you.

The breakfast choice is limited. I would of liked to see a bit more choice.

Alila is a beautiful hotel, the pools, rooms and facilities are gorgeous and very clean and well maintained. It was lovely having a selection of pools, including one pool that was for 'quiet enjoyment' and no children under 12. We had a lovely stay but were a bit disappointed by what occured on our final day. We spoke with a very helpful staff member at reception on our second last day, who booked us on a day trip to Nusa Lembongan for our last day in Bali, on our return from the island we would be picked up by an Alila hotel car and driver who would have our luggage in the car, and take us to Jimbaran Bay for dinner before going to the airport. We were offered the option of booking the hotel car or a regular local private driver. The hotel car was more expensive but we selected this option as we felt it was more secure, seeing as our luggage was being brought from the hotel in the car. When we caught the boat to Lembongan with Rocky Cruises, the cruise operator informed us that the boat would be returning to a slightly different location (not to the main port and Rocky office) due to low tide. The Rocky staff member said they would contact Alila for us to let the driver know to pick us up from the other boat drop off location. For good measure I phoned the hotel myself during the day and informed them of the location the boat would drop us and asked them to inform the driver to meet us at the other location, at 5pm. I also sent the hotel an email. Rocky also phoned the hotel to inform them. When we arrived back to the boat drop off point at 5pm the driver was no where to be seen. At 5:20 I phoned the hotel (I shudder to think what my phone bill will be) and spoke to someone who unfortunately didn't seem to have a clue what I was talking about. At 5:40pm a driver holding an Alila sign walked up. He had been waiting at the main port / Rocky office. We then had to walk 15 minutes to his car.

Better communication

The use of the word "Suitel for the ocean view suite is misleading, it's really just a room with a sofa in it and not a suite.

Over priced for what it is

Everything. The beach the rooms and restaurants. I booked semiyak suite for my parents and another room for myself both are superb. Pools are not so crowed and kids club is enjoyed by my daughter

the intial room 329 given to us was a bit shabby , the shower needed a good scrub and the room smelt very musty. we were given another room which was better . The IT guy was helpful but could not solve my problem

The service was impeccable! The staff was quick with my requests. The room was just as we expected. We will definitely come to Alila Seminyak when we are in bali.
